gSender/gControl - white screen of death

I have a largish job that I would like to run - 30 Mb and approximately 4 hours of run time.

I loaded the file, took a while but nothing out of the normal but then the screen went white. The cursor was still there and responding but nothing else was on the screen. I waited a few minutes thinking that maybe the visualizer is slow because of the file size but nothing changed. I killed the job and gSender, started again and repeated loading the file. I got the same result - white screen with cursor and nothing else. When I say ‘white screen, I am referring to the portion of screen that normally shows the gSender details. There is still a bar at the top that says ‘gSender 1.5.3’ on one side and icons for minimizing, Maximizing and closing the window on the other side. There is also a bar on the bottom for some windoze functions.

I should mention that, with a fairly fast computer, Fusion took probably (guessing) an hour to calculate the tool path ….

It’s been 15 minutes so far and I still have the white screen with no indication that gSender is actually doing something. The task manager shows that gSender uses around 5-8% of available cpu capacity.

I will let things sit for an hour or so and ten try a reboot of the gControl before attempting to load the tool path again.

Left it sit for an hour - no change

The tool path was actually two operations - one long one and one short one. I post-processed the long path by itself, rebooted the gControl computer and loaded the new tool path - same difference.

I am now officially stuck … I do not know how to proceed from here. I suppose I could attempt to somehow break down the single tool path into multiple paths but at this point I am not sure how one would go about doing this in Fusion.

The tool path chosen was a 2D adaptive clearing tool pass. I switched to a 2D pocketing tool path and gSender seems to be happy (I haven’t run the path yet). The new tool path is 2MB vs 30 MB and estimated time is reduced from 4 hrs to two hours so a drastic improvement.

That doesn’t change the fact that gSender choked on the original file which it shouldn’t have done. If this forum accepts a 30 MB file, I can post the .NC file if somebody wants to torture themselves with it.
