Help with Fusion tool path taking too long

I’m trying to do a roughing pass on a relief that is only 96mm x 85mm x 18.5mm using a 1/4" upcut and am having trouble figuring how to reduce the time from 48 minutes which seems way too long. I included what I thought is relevant settings below if anyone sees what I am doing wrong? My other relief which was much bigger with same bit took only around 10 minutes.

Since I was using whatever defaults Fusion was giving me I believe the issue is the “cutting feed rate”?
I used https://cncfeeds.com and shows I should raise that to about 7000 mm/min? That cuts the time to less than 7 min. Does that seem right?

Definitely feet rate too slow.

7000 tops. At around 6mm step down, I usually run slower like 5000

I tried that and only took off 1 sec for some reason.

I changed it to 5000 and still under 10 minutes so that’s good.

I don’t have any experience with fusion so aint getting much intel out of the probvided pictures, so excuse me if I beat around an obvious bush.

If I have toolpaths that have much plunge moves, I like to just simply speed those up, if I can make sure the plunge ramp aint to steep.

Since it’s a roughing path, stepover can be reduced for sports.

Depending on material, depth of the relief it might be possible to skip the roughing toolpath all together when using a tapered ballnose. A tapered is kinda its own roughing tool that mostly is used with a high stepover. After the first full body lane, the tbn does not have much engagement. By keeping the initial feedrate low or if possible, using a z plunge covering the full first lane, a tbn can handle prety high depth of cuts.

Im currently trying to learn Vectric so ive been off Fusion for a month or two, But it looks like your roughing stepdown is 0.635 mm. If thats the case your probably doing multiple passes that are unnecessary. You could do a much larger stepdown even a magnitude of ten and go to a 1/4" ( 6.35mm)

I did the project and definitely saw the step-down was way too little for the bit I used. Thanks for pointing that out. I’m still getting my feat wet :slight_smile:
