I have an Axiscreat X6060. We had an issue with the machine stopping during projects and I think that issue is resolved, but now the homing will not work. I push the homing button and when the z axis goes up it hits the limit switch and then won’t move at all. Any suggestions?
@Carl1 To troubleshoot homing issues, I recommend you enable the toggle just below the coordinates. If you do that, the X0, Y0, Z0 buttons will change to HX, HY, HZ. That will allow you to home each axis separately. You can then see which axis is giving you problems. Try that and report back.
If it goes to the Z just once and stops it could be related to the homing pull-off distance. The pull-off distance has to be large enough for the switch to change back to ‘off’. I agree with @Chucky_ott that doing each axis separate can be helpful until you get them all working.
When working correctly an axis should go to home fast, pull off, go to home slowly, and then pull off again. Not knowing your experience level I figured I’d mention that.
Thank you for responding. Know that I am very new to CNC. When I hit my homing button, the Z axis moves up and stops. The only way to clear it is to unplug the Z motor, but then it does it again and I can’t seem to get any farther.
Also, I am not sure where to adjust the pull-off distance.
In doing some further testing, We do not have the homing pull off distance in our list. We are using gSender and I believe it would be $27. How do I add this?
@Carl1 I’ve moved your topic, as it does not seem to have anything to do with Vectric software.
Thank you…I am still learning here.
@Carl1 No worries. We are all still learning here. I simply moved it so that you might get more mileage from your questions.
Finally got it!! The Z coupler had shifted down and was jamming the screw. I just adjusted that and everything seems to be fine. Thank you for your input. I am sure to be back again for the next issue!
Glad you got it working. $27 is in the ‘Homing Behavior’ section in gSender for me. Be aware that some settings will only be available when connected to a machine. Not sure if that’s why you couldn’t find it, not that you needed it in the end!
Good luck and Happy Carving!
