In our makerspace, we have an X-Carve Pro and I’ve been using it with great results. From Vcarve to gSender it’s working just fine. However, when I tell gSender to run the g-code, it takes a few seconds for the spindle to get up to speed and I have to manually pause the controller or it will hit the piece before the spindle is up to speed. I tried to insert a pause using the Program Events page, but it didn’t seem to work. I guess I just don’t understand how to auto-insert a 3 second pause after clicking the run button. Should I address this in Vetric or gSender?
Perfect. Not sure how I missed this video…
Well, this didn’t work for me. I can’t “customize” the .pp file as shown in this video and I can’t find the .pp files that are in the dropdown list. According to the video, this is where the file is supposed to reside:
C:\ProgramData\Vectric\VCarve Pro - Makerspace Edition\V12.0\My_PostP
I probably need to go to the Vetric forum to solve my problem…
@capelenglish Have you read the gSender documentation on Program Events? Take a look here Additional Features - gSender Docs
Yes, the problem with the “program start” in gSender is that it is issued before the Vetric g-code sends the spindle start command.
@capelenglish Understood. Tks. Just for my education, what post processor are you running in VCarve?
I’ using one of the grbl (inch) post processors. I can’t customize any of them…
I’ve reached out to Vetric support. I’ll let you know what they say.
@capelenglish I’m sure that I am giving away my ignorance when I pose these questions. However, can you not insert a G4 command into the post processor?
I’m trying that approach. For some reason, the makerspace edition of Vcarve won’t let me customize the post processor to add the G4 in the proper place. I’ve reached out to Vetric support, we’ll see what their solution is.
Vetric responded to my support request. It turns out that only Vetric can modify the post-processor file(s) in the makerspace edition. It’s how they lock down the makerspace edition so only 1 copy of the software can write the g-code. They will modify it for me and all should be good.
@capelenglish Interesting. Good to know for future reference. I’m glad that you got things worked out. My apologies for the ignorant questions. At least you can be assure that I learned from asking them.
@gwilki I don’t think any of your questions were ignorant – they were valid and helped me confirm that I was on the right track. Thanks for responding.
If you go into setting in Gsender and go to I believe it’s general setting, there is a box where you can enter how many secs you want. I think 5 is the default.
This is version 1.4.11.
When I installed a spindle, it did the 5 sec pause automatically.
@Tfguy, I’d love to see a screenshot of that setting, because I’ve never seen it. I’m running 1.4.10, maybe that’s why. I’ll have to look at the release notes for 1.4.11.
Thanks @ozguzzi. I’ll upgrade gSender to 1.4.11.
