Integrated bump stops

There was a thread, now closed, regarding the new integrated bump stops. But being a little dense, I am wondering if I’m still missing something.

For the back Y plates, it looks like you install a sensor through the hole, with washers and nuts on each side, then screw one of the caps on top of the sensor. Do you screw the cap all the way down or do you screw it in/out for minor adjustments?

On the front Y plates, it looks like you use an m4 screw to attach one of the caps to the end plates, on each end.

On the left side of the X rail, it looks like another sensor, with screws/washers on each side, and a screw cap on top of it. There appears to be a place for a cap on the right side with a screw?

On the Z plate, the sensor screws through the back. The video just says to keep it clear of the moving parts, it doesn’t look like you use the screw cap on top??

At the end I seem to have two left over caps and a left over nut and washer, so not sure I have things installed correctly.

You mention a video. Have you taken a look at the written instructions? I linked the AltMill Mk2, the instructions seem to match what you describe, but you never said what mill you have.

Anyway, if you haven’t found them, all the documentation for Sienci products can be found with the Resources link at the top of this page.

Happy Holidays!

Ah, thanks for that!! I did not know about the written instructions, I was just going on the video assembly and the little card that came in the box with the machine noting the difference in the integrated sensor/bumps.

And sorry I didn’t mention the model, it is indeed an Altmill. I will go through that documentation.

It’s probably also more clear as I get into putting together the wiring, computer, and setting it up. I’m just at the stage where I’m assembling the table and Axis pieces.

Merry Christmas!! This is my Christmas present and Santa came a couple of days early! I’m as excited as a kid with a new bike.

UPDATE: Just went over and started reading the written instructions. They are so much better than the video!! I’m not sure how I missed them, but thanks again for pointing me there! It answers all my questions.

UPDATE 2: That got me past the problems I was having. Now I’m stuck because I have not yet received my Spindle and hardware. It’ll be along soon enough, now I can just relax and enjoy a Christmas Eve with friends. Thanks for the help here!
