Jog Enhancement Request- Continuous and Incremental Switch

I would love to see a control that can flip the machine jogging between continuous and incremental. Other G Code Senders offer this feature, I think adding this feature would greatly improve zeroing when not using a touch plate or probe which i often do not for setup, yes i could use a touch plate some of the time but often I am working on very small precision parts and is not really an option.

What i find with the current set up Hold for continuous and tap for incremental is that when I’m tapping Z- for instance to zero material Z is that GSender will interpret multiple taps as a jog that cause the endmill to collide with the material resulting in damaged material and/or endmills.

Im trying to get back to gsender as i just ordered a new SuperLongBoard to upgrade from my current BlackBox and would like to utilize all of the features. Running into this issue again years later reminded me why I stopped using Gsender (although loving so many features of it) for OpenBuilds Control

When I upgraded to 1.5.3 I had the same issue. There is a setting that determines how long the mill waits before it flips from single step to continuous jog. I think the default is at 250 ms. I changed that to 500 ms and haven’t had any further issue with the mill running away (and jamming the cutter into the spoilboard HARD).

I’ll take a look at this setting and try your recommendation. This was my biggest complaint when I started with GSender when I got my LongMill MK1 back in 2022. Your suggestion may help but I think all would benefit from a hard coded switch

Yes what @Jens mentioned was implemented recently to help people who’d like this change
