Hello group! Installed the Laserbeam to my MK2 48X30 and tried running the Lightburn test file. It ran halfway through the file and just stopped burning.
Opened up a support ticket with Ikenna and went through all the settings, but coudn’t figure out the problem. The laser turns on with the on-off test in gSender, but won’t burn anything. So they sent me another laser kit, I swapped everything out including the cables and same thing.
Also tried some other gcode files-no laser.
I’ve tried gSender, Lightburn and UGS.
I’m suspecting a Longboard problem. Does anyone know a way to check the PWM from the Longboard, or should I upgrade to the SLB? The machine is only about eight months old. Thanks
@knnewell I’ve changed your topic title since yours seemed to point to some sort of spam address. I’m sure that it was not, but whatever it was, it did not relate at all to your problem.
I received no replies to this topic and support seems to have dropped my ticket. I am going to open another ticket.
@knnewell Look at the this post by Paul Larson, Ken.
Thanks, Grant- I went through that post-checked voltage with the laser unplugged and had 6 volts when firing the laser. Still won’t burn from a file. I bought a Sculpfun S9 and it works perfectly so I figure it’s not a computer or software problem.
Not sure if upgrading to the SLB is worth it if it doesn’t fix the laser problem.
So maybe the support staff has some ideas.
@knnewell I have the SLB with no regrets. That said, I would not count on it to solve your laser issues, unless they are caused by a bad LB. The SLB will still talk to your laser using PWM.
I am confused by your results. In my experience following Paul’s testing process, there was never 6 volts coming from the PWM. Further, the voltage must change as you enter new power settings. Are you saying that, regardless of the settings you are entering, the voltage stays at 6 volts?
I believe that Sienci tech support is off until the new year. I’m sure that they will be able to help on their return.
Yup-using the laser test in gSender I have 6 volts from 1% to 100% power. I dont have a graphing multimeter but the voltage does fluctuate between 0 and 6.3 volts when running a file (laser disconnected).
@knnewell Understood. I can’t take this any further, Ken. I have never used the laser test in gSender. I followed Paul’s process. I’m sure that Sienci tech will be able to help you.
