I want to buy the Longmill 3.0. I also want to use the SLB EXT with the Longmill 3.0 in place of the stock control box. Can this be done?
@whittamps You should ask Sienci. FWIW, I don’t believe it will be possible and the cabling is all different between the SLB-EXT and the SLB-lite which will ship with the LM Mk3. That said, confirm with Sienci.

The mk3 will come with closed loop motors and the slb-lite.
This therefore begs the question. Why do you want to use the slb-ext, when it will come with a lite version of it? I think the main differences will be the lower power output on some of the components (namely those that power the stepper motors).
I have been around since the kickstarter LM Mk1 and moved from Longboard to SLB. I like the idea of closed loop motor systems (used them in Submarine repair). I guess I do not know what puts the light in SLB light. Lower stepper motor power does concern me. I want to move up in rigidity and accuracy as well as a spindle.
@whittamps check out this video then. https://youtu.be/Gr3X0AuRSSQ
Longmill mk3 will use 24V, 1.2N.m motors
Altmill use 2N.m for x and y and 1.2N.m for Z. No mention of voltage in the video but I think I read/heard somewhere that they were a higher voltage (36V?) Not sure though so you should ask Sienci.
What Andy does say in the video is that the components are sized for the machine’s intended purpose.
