I was cutting a 3d relief on 1.5 inch thick popular. The roughing was going well so I went to mow the lawn. About 30 min into the roughing I heard a squeel. I didnt think much of it and continued to mow. After the mowing I went to check on the cut and damit!!!. The x Axis jumped 6 inches to the left totally destroying the material.
I have no idea WTH happened. I’m
I have the Longmill mk2.5 with the 1.5kw VFD spindle
any ideas?
@LFloresTX Static electricity maybe causing lost steps? Too big of a cut, causing lost steps?
I don’t have a Longmill so I can’t give you much more help. But what I can say is that you have now seen the dangers of leaving your mill unattended. Imagine if the collet had started rubbing against your lumber. The resulting friction is a quick way to start a fire.

Another reason I installed a camera over my machine and plugged it into my security system. When things go south there’s always that one question, “What the bleep happened?“
My machine does not move without it being recorded, after it did things I wish I had records of.
