Hi all,
Do you want to help me improve the CNC knowledge app I build?
As some know i’m fairly new to CNC, have an Altmill 2x4 just up and running and learning as I go. But I spend my fair share of time on the interwebs past year already to learn about all the concepts and best practices for CNC woodworking. Now you learn most by doing, but this allowed me to build confidence to take the leap and splurge what for me is a big pile of cash on a brand spanking new machine and everything that comes with it.
Now i’m in a lucky position that my wife also is really enthusiastic about making stuff with the CNC. However she was quite intimidated by all the CNC mubo jumbo and not inclined to spend hours on end on youtube as I did.
So… I build her an app specifically geared to learning the basics as a beginner in a fun and relaxed way without things getting to detailed or intimidating. A way to build your vocabulary and mental models so to say.
We had a great deal of fun with it already. And honestly, it turned a bit into a passion project that took maybe a bit more time then I’d like to admit. Which got me thinking, why not give it back to the CNC community as well? So I’ve put a public version out for testing and shared this app with the Sienci team as well.
It’s a mobile app, focussed on absolute beginners, teaching all there is to learn about CNC in a not so daunting way. Great for getting friends and family involved.
As you all have a heap of experience and knowledge, I would greatly appreciate your expert opinion and help me catch anything that isn’t quite right
Give it a try for a few days and let me know what you think!
And might you know anybody that is a bit more new to CNC but might like to test it, say; a family member, a friend, your wife (
)? Please do feel free and share it, very curious to learn if this thing makes a bit of sense for them!
Some things to know
- As we bought an Altmill al lot of the material and pictures references Sienci resources. But also a lot of stuff from the interwebs as this just started as a personal project, where I could credits to the source are stated. I intent to update that to personal pictures in the future if this gets some use.
- This thing is build with the help of AI, but I smacked the heck out of it to turn it into a proper app and fed it with most of the content and directions on interaction so it does not end up as just another piece of AI slop. (I’m a digital product designer by trade… so yeah.. I care for a good product
) - Any feedback is appreciated, it is geared at beginners, but especially feedback from you as experienced CNC’er is super valuable!
- I can imagine by how the app is build it is not for everyone. Do feel free to let me know if that’s you as well and why

Thanks!
