Loss of power to spindle with PC and SLB on UPS

Since I’ve not received a definitive answer, I am updating my post question with an answer.

I have setup my Altmill and unplugged the VFD while doing an “air carve” to simulate a power outage as if the SLB and PC are on UPS. The project will continue to run despite having no power to the spindle. This will break a bit or ruin the project.

I’m prepping setup for the arrival of my Altmill. I will use an UPS for the gControl and SLB. The spindle will be on a separate circuit with no UPS.
Question is, what happens if the spindle loses power? Will the SLB sense this power loss and pause the job? Or do I break bits?
It would be easy enough to add a relay in the e-stop control, and less expensive tha adding a 2nd UPS.

The bigger issue you will have if using an RS485 connection to the VFD is the protocol required to connect to the controller. The VFD needs to be powered and online and then the SLB powered on. If you try it the other way around as I have found with mine the VFD will not talk with the controller. You can request a spindle start but the VFD will not do anything. I’ve had to shut it all down, power the VFD first then the SLB and then utilize the resume from line function in gSender. You could check to see if the VFD has a set of aux contacts that change state when the spindle is running or not. That contact could be used to signal a cycle hold or stop.
