Is there a way of marking posts read without having to open each post?
If you click the “New” or “unread” categories at the top, there should be a “Dismiss New” and “Dismiss Unread” option to clear all notifications.
I hate to admit it but I have been unable to find it It’s probably in plain sight somewhere …
Ok, maybe I am approaching this wrong. I mostly hang out in the ‘latest’ category and see posts in a bold font and a lighter font. I am trying to convert the bold listings to normal font.
I will continue to play with it …
Looks like I have things sorted out. I changed a couple of things in my preferences and now the overall operation works as expected. An entry in the ’ latest’ list goes from being bold to normal as soon as I click on the post. I also found the ‘dismiss new’ button when there is an actual new item. The distinction between a bold ‘latest’ listing and a ‘new’ item didn’t quite click in my mind …
The method provided by Discourse forum is not ideal and not unique to this forum.
One would expect to be able to mark (check box?) the items you want to take some action on. Then execute some action on the lot of them.
No one I ask can seem to come up with a way to do that.
