Projects for your car

Any good ideas for a cnc project for your automobile ? Got a new truck and been trying to think of adding some personal flare. One came to mind, a cup holder liner. Or console tray. What material to use?

If you have a manual transmission, a bespoke shift knob (you can check out one that I did here: Shift Knob V2 - Walnut Goodness)

I really like how solid walnut comes out, when solid wood is appropriate. Laminated high quality plywood (like baltic birch) can also give you a really slick look. I haven’t tried any faced plywoods, but I’m sure they would look good for flat parts.

If you’re into custom audio in your vehicle, any speaker or electronics mounting enclosure could really benefit from a good looking wood surround or enclosure.

Another fun wood is white oak - which can be a great accent against walnut. Have fun, and make sure you show us what you do end up making!

I just got a Ford Maverick, and got the spray on bedliner aftermarket.
I thought about a tool box, but my wife remembered the silver box I had on the last truck, and didn’t like the look.
Okay, I’m a CNC guy, I can design a tool box that stays low profile, and spray it to match the bed.
With an ALTMILL, I can even cut an aluminum locking mechanism.
Challenge accepted.

Nice suggestions. Wouldnt wood fold up like a potato chip in a hot car? Seal it with something strong? I do have some uv resistant epoxy.

Hmm. Would love to see what you mean. I almost thought about some wood rails on the bed.

I’ll draw the picture, submit for feedback.

On second thought, is this a cost effective use of my time? I sketched up this, but hinges and a lock are TBD. Paint grade, but black bedliner finish could make the thing spontaneously combust! Or burn my fingers:
