I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’m trying to laser a name onto a tumbler. I think? I have the setting in light burn correct but, it’s flat in G Sender and is moving Y not A? any thoughts on what I should check on?
Thank you;
Hemlock

@Hemlock30 Without knowing more about what machine and rotary you have, I can only look at what you have posted. In the Lightburn screencap, you have selected Y axis. Why would it not be the A axis?
Altmill 48x48 with Vortex. I used Scotts video on lightburn Tumblers, he set his to Y axis.
When you use the votex with Vectric software you have to select the correct post processor or gsender does what you descibe. I never used my laser and vortex straight from lightburn so not sure about the mechanics for selecting the correct post processor…
@Hemlock30 I’ve not seen that video, Steve. I’ll look for it to see if I can find you any help. Have you tried to run the file straight from LB? That is, don’t use gSender at all?
Also, have you successfully run carving files on your Vortex? If not, as @jpnharris says, be sure to select the vortex post processor that Sienci provides.
I haven’t tried running it from lightburn. Ill put that on my to do list. I’ve run a bunch of different part on my rotary from v carve and before 1.6.4. Im having all sort of wierd issues now, sometimes A and Y move together and sometime Z and Y move together. I might reset 1.6 or maybe go back a version. I’m doing ANYTHING ELSE tomorrow, ill go back to it in few days with less stress and hopefully a new approach.
Thanks for you help!
@Hemlock30 I watched Scott’s video. Interesting. I also watched a LB video here
At minute 3:59, she shows setting the axis to A. That makes sense to me since it is the A axis that is rotating.
A eureka moment
The only thing that I just thought of is that Scott made the video on a machine running the Long Board. You are trying a project using the SLB-ext. Those controllers handle rotary completely differently one from the other. The Long Board translated Y movement into A movement with a Y/A switch. The SLB-ext has a separate driver for the A axis, so it does not translate Y movements into A movements. In fact, you can do 4-axis projects with the SLB-ext. So, Scott would have chosen Y since it is the Y motor driver that is rotating the Vortex. You would choose A since, on your controller, it is the A motor driver rotating the Vortex.
All that said, but sure to run a trial before taking anything that I have said as being accurate.
Okay, ill give that a try. Thanks
