I have tried to set up the Sainsmart 4030 in generic mode but had issues with it, probably me as I’m a newbie. I tried with longmill 30 30 and it was all systems go. In firmware I set up the home button and it works fine and set the x y travel distance 300mm on X and 400mm on Y. I then tried to jog to my work piece but it stopped at about -120mm on the X and about -280mm on the Y.
However the display showed -294 on the X and -394 on the Y.
I had issues with candle and UGS failed to load.
I also prefer the g sender layout.
I changed back to the generic machine and I switched off homing and limit switches which enabled me to travel the full distance on my machine. On the y axis the travel is 294mm but the panel shows it travelled 810mm which is 32 inches. it looks like the conversion to mm is totally wrong.
Any answers?
Hi Rob,
Have you by chance run the calibration tool / Movement tuning?
no I haven’t tried using the calibration. I’ll take a look. I’m puzzled with the firmware, I tried flipping to inches but it stayed in mm.
Many thanks for your reply.
Does that mean you flashed your board with the LongMill 30x30 profile? If you did then any or all of the firmware settings could be wrong.
I think you can find the defaults for your machine here.
I first tried the generic but had similar issues.
I’m new to gcode and realise now there’s the $$ settings. James Dean Designs has given me the setting to change.
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry, you sent me the link to Jdd ,
These settings didn’t work for me but you put me on the right path, I think these are called eeprom settings and I changed the values on an existing preset machine to suit my Sainsmart 4030 prover v2.
I have now gained a good bit of knowledge and have made my first small project.
Many thanks for your valuable help.
