Afternoon all. I see that Sienci is now offering a “grease gun kit” and recommending lubrication at intervals of 165 hours. My AltMill just shipped, so I’m thinking ahead here…
Since gSender is [telling the board to] drive the axis motors, does it/can it track the motor hours? Does/can gSender provide a “table of axis motor runtimes” with resettable lubrication count-up timers? Or a “lubrication interval notice” popup when a certain axis has reached the recommended lubrication interval? Perhaps a screen that would allow the user to choose the interval with the Sienci recommended default as a starting value?
We certainly should all have checklists for these types of things, but it might be hard to use an odometer approach to lubrication if nothing is logging the actual odometer time. Maybe it already does this and this is just a noob question.
Noob question gSender has a system to keep track of operational hours and to remind you when maintenance is required. It is quite customizable.
Note that I haven’t spent much time with this system.
@fibers Further to what @Jens said, I suggest that you read the gSender user manual. Among other things, it will set your mind to rest about gSender’s ability to notify you of maintenance requirements.
Good idea. So now I’m reading the manual cover-to-cover. I see it should be at: Stats > Maintenance
Just to open it up, has anyone found any maintenance tasks that they like to add for their machine that Sienci hasn’t baked into the default list? I suspect that it is inclusive of just about everything already.
I have done some minor edits. I have an Altmill and the default maintenance was for older machines. I removed some line items. I probably added some but I can’t recall exactly what.
In any case, if you have an Altmill then I would highly suggest going over all the recommended maintenance and adjust your maintenance reminders accordingly.
On my Altmill, the total hours, number of jobs, job list, etc., seem to reset to zero everytime gSender is reinstalled. Hopefully the controller is tracking the total hours, and there’s some way to access it.
