Seeking A Source For The M5 Screws in the Router-Mount

I have a 30x30 LongMill with a 65mm router-mount.

I stripped the two M5 screws which keep the router tight in the gantry.

I see from the Sienci parts store that I can purchase the entire mount and I would get two M5 screws from doing that but I’d rather purchase just a handful of M5 screws so I have some around just in case this happens again.

I guess over time the design changed and mine from April 2021 doesnt look exactly like the current part on the Sienci site (1)- not sure if that matters.

Right now the router is firmly mounted and works OK but I am worried that if I need to replace that router, or tighten it up, I wont be able to.

Does anyone know a source for these screws for April 2021 30x30 LongMill 65mm router-mount M5 screws?

Update: I am in the U.S. in North Carolina. I’ll order from anywhere, preferable local but have no issues getting them from anywhere. If I could take one out to inspect I’d compare with some I found on Amazon but local large box stores dont seem to carry these.

Looks like these are just plain M5 screws (although I would want hex socket screws). Any bolt supply house in your neighbourhood will either have them or be able to source them. While I am reluctant to say this, you can probably source these screws from Aliexpress for less than $5 although shipping would take a while. If you are located in Trumpland, I would suggest the bolt supplier to avoid getting dinged for customs clearance charges and duties/tarrifs.
Lastly, talk to Sienci Labs and maybe they can stick a couple of screws in an envelope for you even though they are not seperately listed.

You should indicate where you are located. I usually get my fasteners, including metric, from Grainger. They have presence in Canada and the US. I have other local suppliers too. Lowe’s, HD also carry limited stock

Will update. US based. Southeast.

Just checked Grainer and it sure does look like the screw but now I need to make sure the length is 14mm.

Thank you for the suggestion!

The drawing on the link you provided show they are 25mm x M5 screws. Not sure if that’s what you have but you would measure cap screws from the tip to the bottom end of the cap. In other words, the 25mm length is for the shaft and does not include the cap.

Thank you. I think the best thing to do is remove one of them and then take it over to Grainger.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. They’re not too far from me, I am pretty sure they’ll have it or I can look on Amazon. Just found some varying length ones on there.

And items on Grainger can vary a lot in price. But in Canada, I should be able to get a pack of 50 stainless steel M5 x25mm cap screws for about $5

USD $8.80 is the price on their site, here. This is OK, I will check this out. Just want to be double sure the design (length) hasnt changed since April 2021. I believe the link for the part is the newest version.

My local Grainger is an industrial supplier. Parts like fasteners usually come from their warehouse. So dropping by their store to order would likely mean coming back a second time to pickup.

OK, thanks for that tip!

I’ll dig for the build documents and find the exact length. (just hit myself across the head for not thinking of that first!)

Update: Found the instructions and yep, its all there on page 77. Thank you for your help!

Other vendors you might want to check are McMaster and Fastenal. Not sure where your closest warehouse is for McMaster, but they’re insanely quick to pack and get to the carrier. If you’re close to a warehouse, they offer local services with same-day shipping.

Closest large city is Charlotte, NC I see a Fastenal near me but says no in-store shopping, so they’ll ship to me?

For the McMaster I see this:
You receive next day delivery by 12 PM at ground rates when you place your order before 7:45 PM.

Thank you for this, I will bookmark these and utilize for sure!

I assume Fastenal will ship as well. McMaster is pretty well the move, their catalog is enormous and well stocked. Definitely worth a bookmark, they’re high up there on the list of critical fabrication / prototyping suppliers in the circles I run in.

Certainly, thank you!

Amazon has most sizes of M5 Bolts and screws. Failing that there is a company in Aloa, Scotland called NoltBase who carry almost every conceivable type of M5 screws and bolts know to man. You can find them on FleaBay (eBay)
You might get hammered with a Trumpie Tariff !
