Has there been any official communication from Sienci Labs on the spindle certification issue in Canada? The listing has been gone from the Canadian version of the website for a little bit now and I’m wondering if there’s been any communication on the issue and whether it’s something actively being worked on or is it gone from Canadian customers for good?
I’m in the market for an upgraded CNC, had my sights set on a full meal deal Altmill setup, but if I need to find an alternative source for a spindle it would be nice to know. I’m not in any hurry to order, so if it’s just a temporary hiccup and will be back on sale soon, it would be cool to know that too.
I haven’t heard anything but since I am still waiting for my Altmill, and they haven’t removed the spindle/VFD from my order, I have to assume they are working on it. They really don’t have a choice unless they want to refund everyone who has one. BTW, it’s the VFD that has the issue. The spindle is ok.
Honestly, issue is probably the wrong word to use, too extreme. There hasn’t been any official communication to anyone except existing Canadian owners who already have the spindle system as far as I can tell, so I’m not sure. But from what I know about electrical certification, Canada has much more strict laws on electronic products being sold in the country than the US. I suspect whatever VFD supplier is being used is missing an amp rating or something similarly silly which means it can’t be sold in Canada, but can be sold in the US.
I’m not worried about the ‘issue’, whatever it is, itself. I’m just wondering if there’s a plan to get it back on sale or if I need to look elsewhere.
