Likely a trivial question but getting ready for my AltMill coming in the next few weeks. I want to get new custom laser mounting plates made before it gets here. On the OnShape model the holes milled into the front of the spindle mounting block are 4.2 mm in diameter. Am I safe in assuming that these holes are tapped for M4 screws?
@martindg fairly certain a 4.2mm hole would be for an M5 screw. In other words, they specified the hole size to drill before tapping. I can confirm when I get home later today.
Hey Martin,
Here’s a handy lill chart that might help going foreward.
When needing to tap hard wood, I tend to stick to the aluminum colom, largest vallue.

@martindg Confirmed. M5 screw at the front of the spindle mount.
Thanks @Chucky_ott and @Spamming_Eddie. That’s excellent. Answers my question and I learned something new.
