Hello all
I have a Onefinity Journeyman and I’m thinking of switching to an Altmill (various reasons, including hating 1F as a company).
Anyway, I’ve been using a Makita router with my Journeyman for 4 years now. I work in an old office building with very shitty wiring and crappy breakers that are down a long hallway. I’ve never blown the fuse with the CNC + Vacuum. I have blown it many times with my thickness sander, but if I don’t push the sander too hard, I don’t blow it.
I realize that blowing the breaker in general is not a great thing but it is impossible to get them to fix the wiring in this old building (which is all concrete and metal, but anyway).
For a minute I had a Chinese 2.2k watercooled spindle hooked up and it was functional but I didn’t like the wiring setup and I never actually ran it with a load.
My question is: is there a spindle that I could use that would have similar power demands to the Makita and that wouldn’t likely pop the breaker? I could just keep using a router, it works fine more or less, but a spindle would be nice for a lot of reasons. I don’t know if I’m gentle in general, but I’ve been using the Makita for 4 years and never had to replace it. I’m making guitars here.
