Table size to account for ATC racks?

Putting my altmill mk2 together and have ATC with racks on preorder. Does anyone know what I should make my table size front to back to make sure ATC Racks fit? Currently its little under 49โ€ but I can make it shorter now instead of later when ATC Kit arrives

Hey, so I can double check with the engineers on Monday because this is an in-progress knowledge base, but taking a quick peak at our resources for the ATC, the travel changes are as follows:

Reduction in Machine Travel (Y-axis):
5.3" from the back of the machine, accounting for clearance for the Clear Cut Dust Shoe.

Remaining Machine Travel (Y-axis):

  • 2ร—4: 20.3"
  • 4ร—4: 43.5"
  • 4ร—8: 99"

I have about 200mm from the back crossbeam to the mdf table. Specs donโ€™t list the mdf base layer size with ATC racks installed. Thats what iโ€™m looking for

I was watching some videos on the ATC and decided I was going to make my table top sit flush with the aluminum crossbeam that sits closest to the end of the frame (second last cross beam looking from the front of the machine). Based on the communication provided so far I think you can technically eke out a few extra millimeters but that was a nice satisfying, repeatable, and future proof spot to stop.

I canโ€™t wait for the ATCs to start shipping.

Hard to tell from videos but I think that is the safest option to go with. So your mdf table is flush with the back of the 2nd to last crossbeam?

You got it. I did the assembly as written in the resources, so the flange on that crossbeam faces the back of the machine, and my table top and wasteboard come flush up to the back edge of that flange.

I made mine 48โ€ hopefully itโ€™s enough. Your option came out to be little less then 45โ€

Looks like ATC stuff got published on github and looking at it, last 2 crossbeams need to be fully exposed so if my math is correct the mdf base table should be about 41โ€? @KGN is that correct?
