The power of an Altmill

This is what happens when you home on the altmill when there is something in the path :frowning:
An interesting display of power of closed loop steppers (on my 3D printers you just loose a few steps).
The work piece was stuck on the table with double sided tape which sheared off and the mill asserted E-Stop.
The spindle was not running at the time.

With lots of power comes lots of responsibility …

WOW! That is impressive

Powerful, indeed… and very quick. I’ve been guilty of placing my hands on the spoilboard every now and then with my former CNC (Longmill MK 1) while a job is underway, but no longer since acquiring my AltMill. It’s unsafe, with any CNC, actually, but given the speed and power involved, safety protocols are essential.

Yeah, it’s not messing around.

I already ran my dust boot into a hold-down bolt. Thankfully could be repaired with some CA and cloth, but need to be much more careful.

Those steppers may not look horribly large, but dang they mean business.
