I am a fusion user, and getting into generating tool paths and sending them to my friends AVID machine in preparation for my Altmill 4x8. I was thinking I could install the gSender software on my mac and post up some g-code and get familiar with the interface. Given that it isnāt plugged into a machine didnāt know if it would show me anything and be a worth the time.
@jBones It canāt hurt to go over all the options of the interface even if you donāt have a machine. That said, you can connect an Arduino to it to make it think thereās a controller there. There is also a software emulator that you can use. Search for a post from @_Michael for details on that.
@jBones @Chucky_ott I agree with Chucky. I use an arduino just plugged into my desktop computer. I loaded the firmware from Sienci so gSender thinks itās running a cnc. Obviously there are processes (think probe) that you canāt test easily but overall it works pretty well. And itās not a stupid question.
Iām guessing it is more real life ārunningā than the simulation in Fusion. It is responding to inputs from gSender.
Any advise on what product to get from them?
Not sure. I have one of the original MK1 machines with itās controller version. Since youāre getting an AltMill I donāt know if there are different versions of the firmware. Maybe someone else with more knowledge can jump in and advise.
thats actually a good idea. Iām about to order altmill myself
Here is a link to my post about the grblHAL simulator in case anyone is interested.
