Trying to flash firmware with gSender from Mac

Helping my Dad set up his new Longmill mk2. Keep getting “Bad number format” errors when trying to run gcode from a few different post processors. Also had the router randomly take off across the table while trying to run a file despite the constant errors.

Following this page- GRBL Firmware 🤖 - LongMill MK2 CNC

I decided to try and reset the firmware. When I follow the instructions, however, and click on the “Flash grblHAL” button, it pops up a box asking me to choose a hex file. There are no hex files in the folder, and I don’t know where to find any. I found an older 2019 firmware .hex, but I’m pretty sure it’s older than what’s on here, so I don’t want to use it.

Help? I’m not sure what steps to take next.

@Zair Are you using the Long Board or the Super Long Board as the controller? If you are using the Long Board, the grblHal firmware is not the one that you want.

It says “Longboard CNC Control Board” on the controller, so I guess not.

@Zair That’s correct. You are not runing the SLB and therefore, you should not be trying to load grblHal. It will not run it.

I don’t see anywhere in the link that you posted that has a “flashgrblhal button”. That’s not to say that it’s not there. I just don’t see it. That page deals with flashing the original Long Board with grbl, either using gSender or using Arduino IDE, which is what you should be doing if you wan’t to flash this board.

What CAD/CAM software are you using? That will influence what post processor you should be using.
