Unable to zero after setting the XY position manually because there is no connectivity on the auto zero touchplate

I am having problems with the auto zero touch plate. The question is two fold. I have the setting correct in the G sender for my Alltmill and set to auto zero touch plate as i have in past. When putting the touch plate on the corner of the material surface and connecting the probe as i did in past it indicates no connectivity. checked wiring and all good.
2. When i try and set the x y manually to the corner of the material surface then hit zero all, nothing happens. It doesn’t respond. Never did that. I don’t know if it is a setting issue or the touch plate went bad but why not respond to the manual setting of the XY. i didn’t even get to the Z yet.

I had some weirdness once with no connectivity to the auto touch probe. Turned out that the controller needed to reboot (and here I thought this was only a thing for windoze computers)

@Nbase1 Confirm that you are connecting with grblHal and not grbl.

Confirmed. I am connecting with grblHal…

Where are you attaching the magnet? I found that my collet had some sort of coating on it that was non-conductive. I sanded the coating off and the connectivity was restored.

You could prove if that is the issue by attaching the magnet to the endmill instead of the collet. If that works then try the sanding suggestion.
