Vectric Laser Module post processor

I am using the Vectric Laser module addon with my laser beam. Does anyone know where to get the laser post processor to enter into the tool database in Vcarve pro? I installed the Vectric Laser module and when I create a design in Vcarve pro the only option I have are Laser 3.8W or Laser 6W. As I understand it the Sienci Laser Beam is a 7W laser.

@VinceC I don’t use the Vectric Laser module, but if I were you, I would go with the 6W of the two choices you have named. You are going to set the power depending on material anyway, so I doubt that using the 6W would pose a problem. Test it and see.

Go to Jtech Phonics and download their post processor. I use this instead of the Vectric Laser add-on. Its much better. The site has all the instructions for downloading and setting up.

@Lappa That’s the way that I went, too. However, once someone has bought and paid for the Vectric laser module, I figure that they may want to use it. :grinning:

Thanks Grant I greatly appreciate your help. On the Jtech website there are many post processors to download. I am assuming you chose the GRBL **1.1 – No Z Dynamic Laser Mode (X Carve, Shapeoko3, etc). Is this correct?

I have VC pro & the laser addon & just use the GRBL mm post processor (GBRL inch works also). It is laser enabled. Works fine. I also made up a series of tools in the Vcarve tool database that reflect each of the dip switch settings for the Sienci laser.
With regards to using the Vectric laser addon I find it fine for doing vectors but for graphics I mostly use Lightburn.

Hello thanks for your help. One last question. Once everything is setup with VC and Laser addon, can I goto the sienci labs resources and use the settings in the gsender setup to run the laser gcode?

Yes. You will need to go into g-sender settings & firmware & enable the laser.
In G-sender full documentation under “Additional Features” will guide you in setting it up.
In Vcarve save as a gcode file & load file into G-sender. Be mindful of your router to laser offsets especially if your swapping between router & laser for your project. Do a few simple practice pieces to get the hang of it. Also note that you can adjust feed & power while doing a burn if you find it not to your liking. Gives you an idea of what settings to use for other similar projects & material.

Thank you. Really appreciate your help. Now I can go and have some fun.

They can. Use the Jtech download as the post processor :grinning:
