The question is in the title, I never used it, never changed anything as of settings, and there isn’t any description to what any number behind $… means. So, what is it for?
It is non-volatile memory that can be changed.
It is where the variables for the program (grbl) are stored and retrieved.
All of the “$xxx” thingeys are the variables for grbl to recall and use when its processor gets activated.
Is there any list with description of what everything is?

PS. And while I’m thinking about it: How do you pronounce Grbl!?
