I’m a little stumped. I have the Z/Y axis cables, the spindle cable, LED cables consisting of a 2 wire jacket and a 3 wire jacket and one more 3 wire jacket for the autodustboot all stuff in the supplied Altmill drag chains. The chains are pretty cramped and there really isn’t any more room for the two 1/4” id x 3/8”od water cooling lines to run in the drag chains as well. I have explored adding a cooling line holder to the drag chains. (see picture) but they would need to be modified so they don’t hang out over the work area field (see picture 2) My other thought was to purchase slightly taller drag chains but not knowing how they are actually measured is stumping me. By my measurements a 30mm tall by 50mm wide drag chain will accommodate everything I need to run. But I don’t think that’s how the measurements work? The drag chain that the Altmill comes with measure 25mm tall and 47mmm wide. There is enough room under the drag chain in the y rail chase to accommodate a chain that is just over 50mm wide. I could use a little enlightening here! Thanks!
As far as I know, the chains are measured for width and height just like you explained. It is important that whatever is inside the chain is loose and can move freely. If you are going to a larger drag chain, I would suggest that you allow for about half the room in the chain be left free for movement.
Thanks. I know others have had the same issue Im having just wondering how they resolved it
