Which are recommendable European sourced step down transformers 230VAC to 120VAC?

I was hinted by the Sienci support to post my question here:

Which are recommendable European sourced step down transformers 230VAC to 120VAC?

To understand the background:

  • Waiting for my Altmill, which is going to run on Swiss 230V grid.
  • Need to power the SLB’s 120V DC adapter on this.
  • Must be a step down transformer rated for 400W minimum.
  • Must be European sourced (purchase) but does not need to be a European product.

I read that not all transformers are suited, even if 400W+ rating is existent. Have seen a Cantonape 2000W transformer available through Digitec in my country (Switzerland) for instance. Will this do? Anybody using a Cantonape transformer?

@Sheldon Welcome to the group, Sheldon.

Could another option be to buy a power supply that takes in your 230v and outputs the 48v DC that the Altmill SLB-ext requires? Plugging in “230v AC to 48v DC converters” into Amazon brings up many options.

I use a step downer for my longmill. I believe it to be a 300Watt unit and it must be a retailed ali express thing. Cheap as my sisters “golden“ ear rings. It has worked for almost 4 years now and never let me down.

It isnt fancy.. just an on/off switch and a transformer.

Hi. This could be an option, but for the moment I’m preferring the AC step-down. Thanks anyway

@Sheldon No worries. Good luck.

I think 2kW for a 400W rated device will more than suffice. Keep it simple though. A device with just a step down ring tranformer works like a charm. Bells and whistles are just that.
