I purchased a LongMill MK2 48X30 and received it late July. I assembled it and cannot get the X axis to properly move. I can slew it over, but every time I attempt to surface the spoil board with GSender, it locks the Z axis. I readjusted the v-wheels and anti-backlash nuts according to the maintenance video with no luck. I reduced the acceleration speed to 750 as recommended in another post, again no luck. Any suggestions?
So I understand, the X axis binds and won’t move left or right? The stepper motor will try to turn but it will just make a annoying grind/humming sound?
If that is the case - I had the same issue.
What worked for me was this:
I moved the XZ gantry all the way to the left. I loosened the two bolts on the X axis anti backlash nut. I jogged it a little back and forth (maybe an inch or two) then just gently alternated tightening each bolt down. Barely tightening them. Just compressing the lock washers and that’s all.
This has also helped people with a similar issue:
Good luck!
CharlieMike,
I started adjusting the anti-backlash screws (just compress the washer) a few days ago with no change. I changed the acceleration speed about a day ago, again no luck. I can move the gantry over to left fwd and reconfirm, but have tried there and centering in the middle of the spoilboard, same results. Any additional thoughts?
For me loosening and reseating the antibacklash nut while the XZ gantry was full left was the key.
I had done it other times but for some reason after doing it with the gantry full left - it suddenly resolved the issue.
