Z axis not following direction

Hi everyone, my long mill has worked for a couple of years with no issues. Today I walked into my garage to find the piece I was working on laying on the floor. All of a sudden my z axis seems to be confusing signals. If I try to raise or lower the z axis, the machine may do the opposite. For example, I went to lower it, it raised up twice and on the third press lowered. Same happens when I try to lower it. Is this a motor or controller issue?

Hey Greg,

Assuming you still have that second hand longmill you didn’t even have to put together, with a trusty old longboard..

When my mill is acting up, the first thing I will look at is the USB cable. Have you tried replacing it with a fresh one?

Thanks for that. I have tried switching out the cable and it is still doing the same thing

@RainhamMillWorks Ensure that the motor plug is firmly plugged into the motor. Power cycle the controller.
