Is it possible to raise the two Y rails on the Altmill to gain additional clearance under the spindle?
Hi, welcome to the forum.
It might be better if you explain why you need additional height. That way, alternative solutions such as these could be provided:
- Lowering your material in between the cross rails
- Slicing feature of vCarve and perhaps other software.

By using longer bowl bits on an 80mm spindle, itโs possible to create deeper bowls. The depth of the bowl then can be limited by the height under the X rail. If it was possible to raise the machine I could increase the height under the X rail.
If your bowl can fit between two cross rails, I would lower the table in between two rails. I think that would be easier than raising the spindle.

It goes without saying that you need to have adequate safe heights. Last thing you want is to start milling the cross rails.
