Z-independent dust boots for altmill

I’m shopping for a z-independent dust boot for my Altmill mk2.

The only option that I can find that’s advertised as compatible with the altmill is the AutoDustBoot ( Building AutoDustBoot for AltMill ) but I don’t think I need something that advanced.

I saw other options on PwnCNC website (v3 Tube Bundle – PwnCNC) but the z-independent bracketing system that they use only lists the LongMill MK2 as an option for compatible CNC, not the AltMill MK2. Does anyone know:

  1. Is the LongMill MK2 z-independent bracketing system sold by PwnCNC compatible with the Altmill MK2?
  2. Any other recommendations for z-independent dust boots for the Altmill?

Thanks!

Maybe I can retrofit my AutoDustBoot without any motor. Just a lever to manuall adjust the height.

The AutoDustBoot looks like an amazing piece of engineering, but my biggest worry about it is that it was designed primarily to be used with ATCs, and I wonder how easy it will be to manually change bits without having an ATC. When I look at videos of the AutoDustBoot in action, it looks like I’d need to remove the boot to change bits. Let me know if I’m wrong about this though!

Do you have, or have access to a 3D printer?

Following this thread, I am also looking for a similar option.

Yes, I have access to a 3d printer at my workplace (but I haven’t tinkered with it).

If there are some tried-and-true 3d printable solutions that work with the AltMill, I’d be interested to hear about those too.
