The only time air leaks is when spindle is spinning. Not sure if that is normal or not. Seems odd. Causes my compressor to cycle allot. No air leaks when sitting idle.
After communicating with Sienci I was informed that the spindle has an air seal to keep out dust. The air sound I hear is normal. I have a 2hp compressor with 5 gal. tank that cycles 1 min on 2-1/2 min off while carving. Now I understand why they recommend a larger compressor. It’s all about the duty cycle. I’m going to add a 20gal tank to reduce the time the compressor turns on. Unfortunately, it won’t change the duty cycle (on off ratios remain the same).
Sienci mentioned that the air seal can be turned off in software. Not sure this is a wise choice since the air seal is for protecting the spindle. They also mentioned that the flow rate can be adjusted but I’m assuming it will require tearing down the spindle.
Love the ATC. It’s like Christmas in May.
