I wanted the accuracy and capability of doing anything from PCBs to Aluminum. Between the redesigned frame and closed-loop steppers, the AltMill promises to be a beast in it’s price range.

Stopped by today to check on the order status of my Altmill.
I see the discussions with regards to paying up front and having to wait. As well as which mill to buy and the delays in manufacturing.
Here are my thoughts for what its worth.
I have spent a couple years learning and deciding which mill brand and model would work for me to add to my shop. My final decision was to purchase the Longmill2 48x30. Partly because it would allow me to start and grow into CNC. Partly due to cost and also the reviews for the LongMill are very good. Both for the machine and the company. I always weigh “bang for the buck” in these decisions.
I learned by watching the crew at Sienci grow into the success of their products coupled with being Canadian sold me on this company. I like how their videos seem awkward and you can tell they are not polished presenters, just nerds geeking out on how well they can make and improve their products. For this I say “don’t change a thing!” This also shows with their transparency and willingness to stop and fix things when needed.
So I saved and built the fund to invest in this purchase. During this time they came out with the Altmill!
When it came time to make the final purchase, my wife was instrumental in helping in the deciding to go with the Altmill. With a small cost upgrade from the Longmill, I will be sure to have a tool I can use longer without needing as many upgrades.
The wait time was posted originally as February 2025, Today it has shown to be updated to December 2024 
so again I see a drive to improve from the team at Scienci.
This has allowed me to play with and learn the design software. A big learning curve and I am not ready lol.

I hope to be making sawdust with the Altmill soon.

Does anyone know why Altmill production has slowed to a trickle? Six last Thursday, four on Friday, none on Monday, two today …
I believe ‘officially’ they update the list once per week. Also, they did not ship for 2-3 weeks and then shipped a large quantity that were waiting on inbound parts. I would imagine that they are now back to ‘normal’ which was 5-10 a week if memory serves.
Yes, ‘officially’ once a week but they have been updating more frequently. Yes, they stopped shipping because they ran out of some parts and then shipped a whole bunch quickly but I was under the impression that ‘normal shipping rate’ was more than 5-10/week. Maybe wishful thinking is clouding my brain :(. My machine is soooooo close …
