In the new Gsender (now Edge), it has the ATC. Does anyone know if, besides the ScienciLabs ATC, you may be able to use Rapid Change ATC also? Or is just for Scienci Labs ATC for ever?
Sienci has at one point indicated that gSender only supports their ATC.
Considering that all the ATC movements must be commanded by gSender and any other system would require different moves, it makes sense that only their ATC is supported.
My understanding of the RapidChange system is that it already works with gSender (as in people are using it on both grbl and grblHAL devices and have been for some time) since it’s largely a collection of macros as well. If you have a tc.macro present the firmware will take over as long as gSender is configured to passthrough and ignore M6 in Toolchanging options.
I’m not sure what other support you’d need - there’s some pretty fundamental differences in approaches between their system and ours, but as long as you have your RapidChange macros configured correctly and copied to the SD card (which you can do in Edge with the SD tool regardless of which system you’re using), it should be fine.
A lot of the ATC adjacent features (like tool timeline, visualizer recoloring, tool remapping) will work for all files with M6 so can be applied to both systems.
Some of the ATC specific features (like tool table) will likely not work since afaik they don’t use the grblHAL tool table directly (I might be wrong on this point, it’s been a while since I looked at their system). Our load/unload call our own specific macros (and I don’t think RapidChange provides alternatives, but again, I’m not super familiar with their system).
The TLDR is that the gSender features that leverage grblHAL functionality should work regardless of your ATC system.
I understand what you mean, right now I am running Gsender with the Rapid Change ATC with no problems. When I open Gsender Edge it shows those fancy tool blocks and such, was just wondering if they become active where you can click on then and also indicate how many tools you have, etc. but they don’t respond right now as if they were, that’s why I was asking, because if I update to the new Gsender that have those items once released, would it work then or they just show up only and if they don’t work if it can me hiden. Thanks
