Autozero touch plate flying

Recently updated GSender. When using the AutoZero Touch Plate if the bit selector is set to “Auto”, it will start to sequence; touch the bottom twice, touch the left side twice, touch the right side twice, and then it goes flying left to the stopper. If I select the bit size i.e. 1/4", it cycles fine. Posted video’s on LongMill, AltMill, and Mill One User Group on Facebook for advice as well.

What is your question ? What you are describing is normal/proper operation.

@EDWoodcraft The current version of gSender has a configurable option to reduce the speed at which the spindle moves to X0Y0 after the probing cycle.

Sounds like he is saying that after the zeroing sequence. The machine darts all the way to the left and hits the limit?

@GPeak Yeah ok. I watched the video on FB. It does indeed move all the way to the left limit. Not good!

@EDWoodcraft Since it does part of the process correctly, this is likely nuts, but what are you using for an end mill when you try this? A guy that I help from time to time was having an similar issue. It turned out that he was using a titanium coated end mill and it was not making good contact with the plate from time to time. He replaced that mill with a “standard” one and the issue went away.

Do you have $13 enabled? If yes, does disabling it change the behaviour back to what you previously experienced?

I have the auto zero touch plate on my piece.

In gSender, under probe I have XYZ selected and “auto” for bit size selection. Now it should hit all 5 sides of the plate. When I hit probe, the bit touches the bottom, touches the left side; touches the right side; and instead of going to the top and bottom, it rapidly flys left to the machine hard stop. I then have to turn the machine off and back on to be able to move the spindle anywhere.

From the initial post, it was not clear to me that the spindle doesn’t just move to the x/y zero position which is normal but in fact travels all the way to the very left and does a hard stop. This was explained by @Chucky_ott when he confirmed it from your FB video.
This behaviour, as you mention, is not correct. I do not have an answer or suggestion for you.

BAM!!! That did it. Normal zero operation in auto!
