Bearing Noise on X Rail

Hello my fellow CNCers,

It’s been a while so let me get to it. I noticed after sometime my Altmill started to make a noise as if something’s in the bearings. Attached is a video as you can see I removed the Z-gantry and I figured since I cut alot of aluminum some chips got in there (I didnt use my shoedust). Questions is, what can i do to clean it or do I need to order a replacement?

Grease is your friend. Pump it into the zerk until it oozes out clean at the seal. As grease goes in it will push out any debris. Disassembly of ball screws requires special tools and knowledge to perform. What grease is needed depends on the ball screws manufacturer.

Thanks for the tip.

I did as you requested and it just took out a bunch of stuff. I cleaned and pumped about 4 times and it was just clearing out!

It still needs some more but decided to just keep running it as it is for now. Unfortunately the only grease available here was a general purpose grease. So I’ll be ordering the special one. I do keep all rails and screws lubricated with 3 in 1 oil.
