Itās been a frustrating few days with my Longmill. Im running G sender on a Surface Pro 7ā¦ Intially when I first plugged it in, it was finding the Com Port. I went to put it in DFU mode to flash it and since, G sender cannot find it EXCEPT when I do flash it. It says that was successful,. Ive reinstalled windows, used a different SLB, used different ports on my Surface Pro (USB C to USB C and USB A to USB C)ā¦ Iāve reinstalled and deleted the drivers in Device Managerā¦ In a few tutorials under āFirmwareā I see an SLB profile, and I see no such thing in my Gsender, so I went with MK2 48x30 which is my setup. The kicker is, the COM port shows right up on my wifeās computer. Every time I plug it into mine in any port I get the beeping noise, but no device found. Iām about to pull my hair out, please advise. Ive used the two apps recommended to flash it as well. Any help would be incredibly appreciated!
@Dillon-Barton To be clear, Dillon, you have more than one SLB and the issue is the same for all of them? If so, I would think that rules out an issue with the controllers.
Also, to be clear, all was well before you flashed the controllers, correct? What firware version were you running before and after the flashing routines?
How did you put them into DFU mode? Meaning, did you use the jumper method?
Yes, I am assuming it is a driver issue, or some sort of issue with G Sender. So I didnāt even flash it yet before it stopped showing up. I first put in the $DFU command prompt and I thought āThatās probably what it does in DFU modeā, but I couldnāt get it to update the firmware via gsender, it kept throwing the āUnable to find valid deviceā errorā¦ And now I couldnt see the original boardā¦ So I uninstalled the drivers, used the STM Cube Programmer and jumped the two pins as I could now not communicate with the SLB via Gsender. That said it worked, but still no COM port showing upā¦ Swapped cables, ports, etcā¦ nothing.
I got an extra board with this, so I swapped everything, and same results. Could it potentially be caused by an estop? because it has been finicky. Sometimes I get a red main light, sometimes I get a White one. When I hook it up to my wifes computer it shows right up. Thank you for your time with this, Also, This was all in preparation for installing a PWN 80mm Spindle kit and VFD wired into the Modbus I believe? Itās not in front of me, But ive tried it both hooked up and unhooked.
@Dillon-Barton I have had issues when trying to update the SLB firmware using gSender, so I stick with the STMCube option. I believe that my issue with gSender was that the board was not really in DFU mode. I gave up trying to figure that out and put it into DFU mode manually with a jumper over the two pins. In my experience, that has always worked.
I know this sounds condescending, but you are power cycling the board after the flash, yes?
I suppose a malfunctionning estop could be the cause. When you hook it up to your wifeās computer, how are by getting around the estop?
I know nothing about surface and usb ports. I just did a search here and did not come up with anything relevant.
I suggest that it may well be time to open a support ticket with Sienci.
Yes , thank you. I do have a ticket open with Sienci, it was elevated. Not condescending at all because I feel like Iām patiently waiting for that little thing Iām doing wrong to surfaceā¦ As long as our definitions of power cycle match (switch off a few seconds, switch back on), then yes Iāve probably worn the ON-OFF switch out, And you bring up a good point about the estop. Wouldnāt make much sense. After seeing it pop right up on her computer I thought āOkay a clean install of Windows and iāll be home freeā.
I am going to try to STM Cube again. I have a question, I noticed in the tutorial videos, under the firmware tab, they have a profile option of āSLBā, which is nowhere to be found on mine. I doubt this is of consequence, but I thought it strange. I just used Longmill MK2 30x48. Is there any other wiring that comes to mind that could potentially affect whether a board is even detectable? What i find strange is I am able to succesfully update the firmware in gsender, so it says, but it canāt find my board under normal circumstances,
