Howdy new friends! Stoked for my new machine and have loads of ideas for it. I have experience with different CNC machines and post processors but yikes has this Altmill setup been giving me the business. I can successfully home the machine, jog all axes in correct directions and intervals. I tried to run the surfacing program as the last part of the set up and received multiple different errors:
tried to verify the G code and it triggered 10 E stop alarm (weird because gSender wrote the program).
finally successfully verified G code and set X, Y, and Z zeroes before running and got alarm code 14 spindle speed error after running for a few seconds.
cleared that error and then tried to go to XY0 just to go back to job start positions, the Z axis drops down and triggered a 10 E stop alarm. It didn’t even move in X or Y, just dropped the Z.
Gave up on trying to run the program and tried to do the outline. You guessed it, 14 spindle error and then 10 E stop alarm.
So basically I am getting all kinds of error messages and cannot seem to get the machine to even recognize zero positions, go to the positions once set or run. gSender seems glitchy so I am wondering if there’s something in the Firmware that is messed up? Or my computer maybe? Sorry for having multiple issues, I appreciate any help!
I no have no sparkley new Altmill. Not even a rustly old one either, so I am the last person to take serious when commenting on sarkly new Altmill problems, but.. I feel it!
It was my fear, when I fist got my sparkly longmill, that I would not be able to get it running and I would get stuck in a viscious circle of computersaisnoooooo.
Since I have roamed this here forum a while and see many topics pass me by. So maybe the answer thaat will make you move on, is found in one of these, no?
So I typed error 10 into the search engine and found this promissing topic that has the same feel over it as yours. It also has a solution that might help you out.
Thank you so much, you are too funny! I tried that and seem to have gotten a little further so that’s a win. I have figured out an issue which is that my X axis is not measuring correctly. When I move from the home position across the full X gantry distance it measures 12.724 inches. Y correctly measures 49.075.
Troubleshooting - I swapped one Y sensor with the X thinking the sensor itself was the issue and no change in the X measurement.
I also noticed that when I jog in the X it moves much more than the Y which I suppose makes sense if the machine thinks it is moving .2 inches over 12 inches would go further than .2 inches over 49 inches.
So should I start a new post given I have identified a new, more defined issue? Thank you for any feedback, glad to have a community here!
