Getting "ALARM 10 - Estop asserted" when trying to run laser project

I finally got around to installing the LaserBeam on my MK2, but I haven’t been able to run the sample project from this link.

My setup includes:

  • Longmill MK2
  • SLB controller (running the latest firmware)
  • LaserBeam
  • gControl (fully updated, running the latest gSender and LightBurn software)

The laser itself works—I’ve tested it manually—but whenever I try to launch the sample project, gSender instantly disconnects from the laser. The error I’m seeing is: “ALARM 10 - EStop asserted”. I’ve tried everything I could to clear and reset the EStop, but nothing has worked.

I have meticulously repeated the setup instructions several times just to be sure. However, I believe this problem is not related to the laser itself.

It’s worth noting that I’ve successfully run dozens of projects using the router without any issues and never once used the EStop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
– Daniel

hey Daniel, have you tried unplugging the E-stop and unscrewing the 3 screws at the back to see if there are loose wires in the E-stop itself?

No, but will do it 1st thing this evening.

Hi Kelly, it didn’t help. All is well connected. No loose wires.

I had a similar problem about a week ago. First make sure the estop cable connector is firmly inserted into the SLB.

Second, and I admit this may be pure BS, but make sure the estop button isn’t sitting right next to the SLB. Mine was 4 or 5 inches away and when I moved it about it 3 feet away the problem went away- but it might be that the different tension on the connector was the real fix.

Hi jwebster, after disabling the Estop, I got a bit further but still failed to get any project done. So I’m going to close this topic, as the Estop doesn’t seem to be the cause of the problem.
