gSender 1.5.4 can't find USB port in Linux

I downloaded gSender for Linux and installed it in OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. It opens fine, but when I plug in my Genmitsu CNC router and try to connect to the USB port it says it wants to connect to ttyUSB0. I click it to connect and it comes back with an Unable to Connect message. I used the command lsusb in the Terminal and I get:

ken@192:~> sh
sh-5.3$ lsusb

My CNC router is Bus 003 Device 007, QinHeng Electronics CH340 serial converter. It looks like my computer knows the router is plugged in, but not into ttyUSB0. I can’t find anything that displays the USB ports using the ttyUSBx nomenclature.

How can I get my router and computer to work with each other?

Many thanks!

Ken Alexander

I only had CNC running on USB or Linux briefly so I could be wrong on anything I am about to write but, I would lean towards the CH340 being the device unless you have some other Arduino or ESP device plugged in.

Also be sure you gave yourself write permission to the USB devices.

sudo usermod -a -G dialout <user>

Hi,

Yes, CH340 is the CNC machine. I didn’t know I needed permission. Your “permission slip” worked! I can connect to my machine now!

Many thanks!
