gSender 1.5.6 Can Find CNC on Linux

I got a FoxAlien CNC for Christmas and have been successfully using UGS on Linux but wanted to move to gSender. The program simply will not see my device. I checked all the normal places that I knew about.

  • Using lsusb I see this entry: Bus 001 Device 006: ID 1a86:7523 QinHeng Electronics CH340 serial converter
  • I can see the device here: /dev/ttyCH341USB0
  • And I’ve added my user to the dialout group which I had to do for UGS.
  • I even uninstalled brltty based on an internet search

When in UGS this is what I see and it works

But in gSender I can’t find it. It says No USB devices found and then a long list of tty devices under unrecognized but not mine.

Would love to try gSender so any help I could get would be great.

Thanks!

Welcome to the group!

It might help to post your log file. I’m on Linux and my gSender log is at “~/.config/gSender/logs/main.log”. I’m using the AppImage but I would expect the logs to be in the same place for other installations.

I’d double check the Basics section of the config if you haven’t already. Try the other Firmware fallback if you haven’t. It’s worth a shot.
