I have followed the suggested path to tune the x y z axis. Never get to the 100mm measurement, will be 99.5 mm measured using calibers. Do the tuning app and put the measurement in and now will be 100+ -. Have tried numerous times. Any suggestions??? I took the machine apart to check acme thread blocks for play, re-tightened all the items that might influence accurracy. Any suugestions would be appreciated.
@Ray-Dee is this happening across all your machine axes? Or just specific ones?
Hello, yes the accuracy is questionable, I will do a test block 100x100x10mm , measure and do an axis calibration, re-boot the SLB run the test block again and the measurements are still off. I don’t think it is a software issue but rather a mechanical problem. I have a lead screw system and I will upgrade to ball screw to see if the accuracy improves. Thanks to all,I will reply when I complete the upgrade.
@Ray-Dee I agree that this is very likely not a software issue. I have moved your issue to the “someting’s up” category.
If may help those here to help you if you post what your CNC machine is.
1510 OpenBuilds, had the blackbox but it did not like black coffee. Switched to the SLB and have had this issue with accuracy. Will upgrade the system from lead screw to ball screw and see what the results are. Thanks
@Ray-Dee This is a belt-driven machine, yes? One issue that I saw in a build video was that it is critical that the belt pulleys are precisely aligned with the inner wheel sets.
You’ve said that you are going to convert to ball screws. I’m curious about this. Do you have any documentation on how to do that?
