I have been looking to set up a mini pc in my shop to run gsender as running my laptop out there and back inside over and over again gets annoying as it also makes my laptop covered in dust which slows it down
I have a found a mini pc but I’m not sure if it would work . The specs are as following
Intel 12th Gen n95 processor
No graphics card (I’m not sure if this would be an issue)
8 gb ddr4 ram
256gb ssd
This should for you but keep in mind you will need a monitor, keyboard, and mouse as well.
Have you considered the gControl?
Hi Nellie,
Welcome to the playground.
If you can run wi 10 or 11 on it, it’ll run gsender. If it’s soal purpouse is to run gsender you don’t need much of a graphics card. If it has an output to plug a screen on, you’re good.
You indeed need some way to interact with the mini, being it a keyboard and mouse or something more exotic like a leapmotion controller, you want something to poke the monster with.
If you plug the mini in your local network area, you can unlock the feature to connect to the machine remotely via the remote function. In theory you can, if you can get gsender running, control your cnc from any other spot you have access to your local network.
This would allow you to still upload toolpaths from the laptop, so not much needs to change. You could even still run your machine via the laptop allthough I habe found that being at the machine when starting toolpaths is often the difference between a disaster and a close call.
Short answer long, yes you can.
@Hnellie Welcome, Nellie.
While those specs look close to the mini that I am using, it would help to know what CNC you are using and what controller is running it. Also, what outputs are available on the mini. Without that information, we are just guessing. ![]()
