Nope. Nothing. Uuugh.
Here’s a vid of a whole lot of nothing happening

(the burn marks at the bottom are my focusing. So it will burn!)

I am out of ideas other than checking if the firmware setting for laser power is 255 too?
I’ve set mine to 30000 (default) and now have your problem too.
It sure is. My min power is 1…when I change it to 0 it reverts to 1 and won’t let me make it 0. Is that a problem?
Just to be extra sure. You have two settings. One in settings and the other one is firmware.
They both need to be 255. I had the one in firmware changed to 30000 and my laser behaved like you discribe yours does.
You have both correct? (not focussing on the zero being 1 atm)
Yup. That’s how mine is set
I’m out of ideas but I think the problem is on the longboard. Time to get that ticket?
@Abradel I don’t have this laser, but others have had dip switch issues. You need to be sure that only one is in the on position. FWIW, I would make that the number 5 switch. Click all of them on and off a couple times before setting them to off.
Yep. Tried the dipswitches and no luck. Ticket open
(Hey Eddie - Do you live in Southern Ontario? Want to do some wedding favours for me? lol)
Depends, is Southern Ontario located near the North of The Netherlands? I always forget the names of the counties down south.
About this far on a map

Well, if the laser is off, the mill has to do. The coasters arent that difficult to engrave.
Needed: 30deg engraving endmill 1/8
A color of paint that makes you happy. (Or else you will go unhappy a few steps up)
Apply the color that makes you happy to the coaster material.
Watch the happy color dry.
Mill the design into the material.
Have time to spare to make even more coasters.
Done.
Seems like this is the option my new found friend.
Found the problem and I have ZERO idea how this can even happen.
Check out the pictures. I used a jewelers loupe to look in to the laser casing. It’s cracked, what’s more…the crack went through the laser glass and all the way through the lens. So, I guess after two projects, this laser is toast. And out of warranty. So that’s fun.
How the beam was able to KO both pieces of glass is beyond me.
Second picture is not very clear, and I’m not in the shop atm, so can’t check what could be cracked down there.
The diode seems to work. Do you have any other lenses or can you repair the cracked one with some clear va glue to see if you can still focus your laser?
I’ve tried other lenses (I have about 6). The problem is they’re not focusing properly (I believe). When I look into the assembly where the arrow is pointing there is a crack in the very centre of the tiny little brass dot. So I guess I need a new assembly.
Try dropping a rvs filler ring on your material, and get the most tiny dot you can on it, by adjusting yer z hight while firing the laser on 1%. Adjust for the hight of the ring and zero your z.
I have some wonky lenses that are barely able to focus while hanging by the skin of their teeth outside the laserbeam housing. I cannot focus with the measurement tools. This is my workaround.
All this wearing the badass red glasses, ofcourse.
Well after trying everything I eventually had to replace the laser assemble and now it works flawlessly once again.
Just wanted to say thanks for all your help.
I’m back up and running, firing lasers all over the place. My fiance will be happy that she’s getting her coasters! Now to wait the 7 years for it to cut all these lol
Thanks again. Appreciate your help!
@Abradel I’m glad to hear that you solved your issue. I have closed the topic. Have fun. Please post some of your completed projects in our Show Off category.
