@Spamming_Eddie thanks for the response. I have the diagram for the 30x30 but thank you. I am just looking for proper clearances for dust collection hoses and movement clearances as Im coming from a small Genmitsu 3020 Pro Ultra.

I am pretty much the worst person to have in your topic, cause it seems I do everything inverted to conventional users. I build an Eddie enclosure rather than enclosing the machine so i can run it without needing dust extraction. I clean it.. when my make shift y axis guards can no longer hold the piles of chips back. I stopped using my auto xy block and only use the simple block for z zeroing. I done away with traditional spoil boards and use spoil strips and sometimes custom build riggs. Worse of all, I am reasonable deaf and need the sound that I still can hear to determine the health of the machine when running. Sound proofing my longmill would be my worst nightmare. I did put my controller(s) inside an enclosere though.
I might be able to summon @_Michael he build an enclosure for his 30x30 and may be of more use.
If possible could I steal the measurements from you also some more details on what you used for your build? Love the fact you say it how much it cuts down on the noise and also that you use latches incase you need to remove for maintenance or whatever requirements you need at anytime.
Table is 55” wide by 49” depth, enclosure is 52” wide x 49” depth. This leaves a small 3” shelf on the side to mount equipment like the power supply, longboard and others like power bar, etc. Enclosure height is about 32”. Details of the materials used is in the Facebook link. Noise reduction is quite modest, the main benefit is cutting down on dust, even though I have a decent dust collection setup.
I am building a 55 x 48 torsion box to mount the Longmill 30x30 to… thinking 24 inchs high for the enclosure height… the machine is 18 high and then leaves 6 for the shopvac hose that goes to my dust deputy… Im hoping the MK3 has wires long enough to mount the controller outside the enclosure keep it cooler and out of the dusty elements.

Here’s a post of what my enclosure looked like when I first built it. Since then I’ve added a door in the back for pass through work. Anyway my main reason for posting this is because I’ve never regretted making my enclosure super tall. I’m 6’2" and don’t like hitting my head! It’s also made the vac and laser exhaust hose management a breeze, they just come through the roof near the center. I don’t use FB so I can’t see how @mbelleri’s design is for access.
Good luck with your build! I wish I made a torsion box because I get some movement with humidity changes with my plywood and 2x4 base.
Is that a 30 x 30? Whats the measurements? I want it to be under my workstation as very limited on space right now, but don’t want to be limited to much. Was thinking 4 inch torsion box with 30 inches of enclosure then my workstation on top so avout 34 to 36 inches from the ground. I have ordered the 30 x 30 Longmill MK3 and my torsion box Im thinking will be 55 wide by 48 deep by 4 inches high… Playing with the idea of torsion box for workstation top as well but maybe only a 3 inch high or might just double up the top with two layers of MDF… Want to do it right the first time or atleast close to it lol
@Derekh1979 If your question was for me, my my mill is a LongMill 30x30 Mk1. My enclosure is 50" wide, 49" deep and 42" tall. Those are the outside measurements.
Your mileage my vary but I think it’s worth making the access to the machine as easy as possible because I end up spending a fair amount of time working in it between setups, cleaning and maintenance. I’ll be 52 this Friday so that plays a part as well. A quarter century ago working on the floor was much easier!
