Sounds like a case of lost steps. Make sure your anti backlash nuts aren’t too tight. Does it also lose position if you run it in air?

Great advice! I just checked the anti backlash and they seemed okay. Just to be sure, I backed them out 1 turn. I’ll let all know my next run results.

One thing that I would add is that, if you can back off the anti-backlash nut adjustment one full turn, and there is still no backlash, you definitely have them much too tight.
