Mounting AltMill power supply

The assembly instructions just say to plug the power supply in and no mention of mounting it. It looks like there are actually holes that line up with the power supply underneath where the SLB-EXT is. Is that where people are mounting it?

Wouldn’t mind seeing other people’s pics of the left front leg where the controller and such is mounted.

@DavidB Really? I never even noticed that. I have mine mounted to plywood stiffeners I made.

I think I zip tied mine to a rail.

Good old zip ties. The eighth wonder of the world….well the shop anyways.

Here is what I did:

The Yellow Box is a 110v SENCTRL Automatic Vacuum Switch to turn my Dust Collector on when the Spindle is on. It senses the current draw of the Spindle and closes a relay to send 110v to a “110v to 220v Relay” to energize my 220v Dust Collector that has a “Altmill/Remote” toggle switch so I can also operate the Dust Collector manually.

All of the 110v power is controlled by the Power Panel to the Left of the Altmill Power Supply.

They must have added more predrilled holes on the leg since I don’t see the holes on yours @Dnick that I see on mine. The new holes do line up perfectly for mounting the power supply. There are 6 holes near bottom of leg and using the middle two lines up with two holes higher up that line up with the slots in the power supply.

I did have to use the M4 16mm screws that I had left over since the M5 would not fit the slots on the power supply. I had to use my own M4 locknuts. Also used washers just for extra peace of since the hole size was close to the M4 size.

None of the holes on my legs (11/24 vintage) line up with anything on the Power Supply, hence the Plywood, beside it gave me a place to mount the Power Panel. :innocent:

Just noticed on sienci latest video comparing AltMill to LongMill MK3 they also have the power supply mounted on the leg like I discovered you can do:
