Just assembled my Altmill 2x4. Turned everything on. My Gsender computer says disconnected at the top? Have a feeling this may first of a few questions. Thanks in advance Bill
You need to hover over the “Connect to CNC” button at top left of window and hopefully it shows under the drop down menu a USB device as the first item otherwise you will see “No USB devices found”. If it says that and you have the USB connected to your computer and controller you should try turning the controller off and then back on again.

Consider switching to Ethernet instead of USB. It’s a more reliable communications protocol and the physical connection is better too.
If you want to stick to USB and what @DavidB doesn’t work, try a different cable. It has to be a USB data cable. Some are charging cables only.

Just worked through an Altmill 2x4 build myself. Agree with choice to use ethernet cable over USB cable for more robust comms. One point to note: you’ll need to initially setup the Super Longboard using a USB cable to the computer running gSender. Once that connection is made, you can then enable/switch to ethernet.
Everything is communicating cleanly now. Hope you’re up and running!

The SLB-EXT has a default IP of 192.168.5.1. If your gSender computer has an IP in the 192.168.5.x subnet, you should be able to connect directly without going through USB first.
Very true. I didn’t see the IP/subnet info prior to setting up. Oddly, gSender doesn’t use SLB/SLB-EXT IP subnet as default (which seems like an easy win if they did…so it’d be ethernet plug-and-play from the start). That being said, yes — if you know the expected gateway/subnet info above, you should be able to go with ethernet from the start.
